As a social entrepreneur, technophile, community volunteer and East African Acumen Fellow, she is passionate about educational initiatives that foster development and fun. She was the Education Quality Assurance Manager at the Institute of Software Technologies, an IT training company based in Nairobi. She also runs Maisha ni Matamu, a “funucational” social project that aims to bring a day full of joy every month to children who are underprivileged and/or orphaned. In her spare time, Nivi organizes cultural festivals, bakes, knits, runs half marathons, folds origami and plays Fußball. As a child, her favourite toy was the Speak & Spell.
is the co-founder and CTO of eLimu. Marie also co-founded Akirachix, an organisation that aims to inspire and develop a successful force of women in technology who will change Africa’s future. With a background in Business Information Technology herself, she is passionate about IT and seeks to inspire leadership among women in the traditionally male dominated field of technology. In her spare time she enjoys listening to and discovering new music.
is the Chief of Education at eLimu. Isaac is a biology teacher with thirteen years of teaching experience at Starehe Boys’ Centre, a top national school. He has also authored a total of ten books in Agriculture and Biology in Kenya and Malawi. Isaac is a BSc graduate from Egerton University and a holder of Postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) from Kenyatta University. He is the ICT champion Starehe district and is involved in training teachers in ICT integration in Education at Starehe. He is currently involved in the coordinating the Government of Kenya Laptop Program in schools teacher training as an evangelist and master trainer for use of technology across counties.
Sam Rich is an education and behaviour change consultant from the UK. In London, he began work as a journalist, before dabbling in design, then training as a teacher, and briefly dipping his toes into the dot-com sector. Ten years ago he moved to East Africa in a brave attempt to marry these skills by working as a behaviour change consultant. Since then he’s done everything from designing poster campaigns for banana farmers, to producing radio ads about election abuses, and developing mobile apps for micro-finance organizations. At eLimu he’s currently scripting animations and helping us to develop our new literacy app.
is the Head of Programs at eLimu. At eLimu she develops extended learning content to equip learners with skills for the 21st century. She is also involved in taking eLimu to schools and libraries, training teachers and pupils on how to use technology and the eLimu app in the classroom. A graduate in business she seeks to empower the youth through education and bringing solutions which are practical & relevant to economic issues. Through her involvement with eLimu she hopes to empower kids to embrace technology, become responsible citizens in a creative and fun manner. In the her spare time she enjoys reading, watching plays, discovering new music and traveling.
is an advisor to eLimu and has been Managing Director of Moran (E.A.) Publishers Ltd, previously known as Macmillan Kenya (Publishers) Ltd since January 1990, and has been with the company for a total of 27 years. Formerly a Deputy Principal and Biology teacher, David has been successful in creating and implementing strategic plans, setting and administering budgets and developing improved processes to meet short and long term objectives at Moran Publishers. The Moran MD is passionate about Education and publication of quality educational materials and believes that we must all embrace a reading culture in order to bring about positive change that will nurture talents in our children and the citizens at large. He plays an active role on many committees, chairs executive meetings, and provides guidance on strategic management to promote new thinking and innovative solutions to the most critical corporate challenges. The Moran MD offers extensive knowledge and experience in new business unit start ups, mergers and acquisitions.
He is an alumni of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where he undertook a degree in Information Technology and proficient in programming languages such as Java, PHP, prolog and other web technologies and database technologies but with bias towards mobile application development.
He is currently the android developer with eLimu and apart from coding, loves playing chess, swimming and making new friends.
She is a Business and Information graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Her interests are in adminstration, education and technology. She is an Adminstrator at eLimu. She enjoys networking, community work, singing and giving hope to the weary ones in spirit.
